Psalm 73

A psalm of Asaph.

1 Surely God is good to Israel,

    to those who are pure in heart.

2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;

    I had nearly lost my foothold.

3 For I envied the arrogant

    when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4 They have no struggles;

    their bodies are healthy and strong.[a]

5 They are free from common human burdens;

    they are not plagued by human ills.

6 Therefore pride is their necklace;

    they clothe themselves with violence.

7 From their callous hearts comes iniquity[b];

    their evil imaginations have no limits.

8 They scoff, and speak with malice;

    with arrogance they threaten oppression.

9 Their mouths lay claim to heaven,

    and their tongues take possession of the earth.

10 Therefore their people turn to them

    and drink up waters in abundance.[c]

11 They say, “How would God know?

    Does the Most High know anything?”

12 This is what the wicked are like—

    always free of care, they go on amassing wealth.

13 Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure

    and have washed my hands in innocence.

14 All day long I have been afflicted,

    and every morning brings new punishments.

15 If I had spoken out like that,

    I would have betrayed your children.

16 When I tried to understand all this,

    it troubled me deeply

17 till I entered the sanctuary of God;

    then I understood their final destiny.

18 Surely you place them on slippery ground;

    you cast them down to ruin.

19 How suddenly are they destroyed,

    completely swept away by terrors!

20 They are like a dream when one awakes;

    when you arise, Lord,

    you will despise them as fantasies.

21 When my heart was grieved

    and my spirit embittered,

22 I was senseless and ignorant;

    I was a brute beast before you.

23 Yet I am always with you;

    you hold me by my right hand.

24 You guide me with your counsel,

    and afterward you will take me into glory.

25 Whom have I in heaven but you?

    And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

26 My flesh and my heart may fail,

    but God is the strength of my heart

    and my portion forever.

27 Those who are far from you will perish;

    you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.

28 But as for me, it is good to be near God.

    I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge;

    I will tell of all your deeds.

Paul's Prayer III

Hashem, I pray to You

Let those who have ill-wishes against me

Be confused and confounded

Make them realize their wrongdoings

Make them repent for their trespasses

For You are my protector

my Savior

Deliver me from the harm of my enemies

Nurture me in your arms

Envelop me with your grace of protection

I humbly ask this and I hope

You hear and grant my supplication. Amen.

For all the blessings that You gave me

I thank You, O Hashem

For all the trials that You made me go through

I thank You, O Hashem

For my parents who guide me through life

I thank You, O Hashem

For my sibling whose love to my parents I share

I thank You, O Hashem

For my relatives who inspired me to be closer to You

I thank You, O Hashem

For the people who inspire me to be closer to You

I thank You, O Hashem

For all your wonderful creations

I thank You, O Hashem

For your perpetual guidance

For your love and compassion

Paul's Prayer V

All I ask is for divine justice

Punish those who did me wrong, O Hashem

Teach them that it is only You who can make me suffer

Bring to hell those who lied to me

Break the hearts of those who took advantage of my goodness

Humble those who are proud

All the belligerents, only you can tame

All the workers of iniquity, only you can reform

Because against You, nothing can stand

Through Your name

I implore You

Do justice for me, O Lord.

Paul's Prayer VI

In suffering, I saw You

In the presence of evil, I saw You

In the middle of the storm, I saw You

In the face of my foes, I saw You

You never left me

You were always there

I thank you, O Lord

Your presence

Which gave me strength

Which shielded me from the fire

Which protected me from harm

I will always cherish, O Lord

And I will always pray for Your presence

Not only in times of trouble

But also in times of peace

Amen.

Paul's Prayer VII

O Hashem, You are my Lord

You guide me in crooked paths

You help me reach Your sanctuary

In there, You nourish me with your graces

You put peace and love in my heart

You fill my cup with water

You put a banquet on my table

You let your angels accompany me

The moon and stars

You command them to sing to me

The songs that You taught David.

I gladly listen to them

Until I fall asleep

And when I wake up

I see You by my side

I feel so blessed my Lord

And I offer You my gratitude

Let but goodness and kindness

Pursue me

For You are my Lord

My shepherd

My guide

Forever I shall dwell in Your house

And forever I shall sing Your praises.

I wrestled with myself at first until I found my pace

Now, revelations from You are being whispered in my ears

Praise Lord-God, indeed Thy will is pure

The wind always blows in Your direction

You reward those who are loyal and reverent

to be not lost in the forest

You always give strength to your weakening servants

Praise Lord-God for You are with us.

Lord-God is Love

And Love is Lord-God

He guides me on murky waters

He fills my plate and my cup

He nourishes my hungry soul

He gives me wisdom

To answer all my questions

My heart beats because of Him

Loving Lord-God

No one even compares

Praise Him in all his glory

For all eternity.

Let me be with you again

Coz I want all to begin

For you are so dear to me

I miss you so tenderly

You are with me while I'm asleep

I can't wait to see your face

When I open up my eyes

I will see you finally.

An Act of Contrition

O Lord-God,

I am heartily sorry for

having offended Thee,

and I detest all my sins,

because I dread the loss of heaven,

and the pains of hell;

but most of all because

they offend Thee, my Lord-God,

Who are all good and

deserving of all my love.

I firmly resolve,

with the help of Thy grace,

to confess my sins,

to do penance,

and to amend my life.

Amen.

Celibacy

Lord-God, to You I give my life

All my remaining days

I shall offer to You.

Chastity

Lord-God, my eyes will still remain open

To see the beauty in Your works.

However I will not be overly and sinfully lustful towards them

and won't be using them solely to satisfy

My bodily urges.

Piety

Lord-God, I will be always at your side

You're my shepherd

I will obey your commands,

Purify my soul, spirit and body through the prayers

That you taught me,

Do good works towards our neighbors,

Love Anhar and Shadiya Maryam,

And be watchful and give tough love towards our enemies.

Poverty

Lord-God, the riches of heaven are in the heart

And purity of the heart is the key

To seeing You

That's the only wealth

And your eternal love and kindness

That I wish to have

Please guide me everyday

Anything else other than those

Are just chaff in the wind.
